SAMURAI JAPAN's slugger who hits a ball a long distance with a wild swing. He can not only hit a long one, but focus on driving in runs when runners are in scoring positions, and won the title for the most RBI's last season for the second time with 110 runs.

He hit 87 home runs in total when in high school, turned professional as "Monster in Heisei", earned a regular position in 2011, the fourth year after graduating from high school. From 2012 on, he hit one home run after another and batted in many runs as an irreplaceable cleanup hitter. He played 6 games as "batting 7th/left fielder", going 6 for 21 with . 286 batting average in the previous third WBC in 2013. As of Kokubo Japan, he was expected to be their cleanup hitter, called in for all series and played them. He batted 5th or 6th in Premier 12 on November, 2015, and performed very well with . 429 batting average (12 for 28), 3 homers and 15 RBIs.

He got pain on his left wrist in spring camp, lagged behind other players in tune-up, which was concerning, but he is doing fine recovering day by day. Since he didn't hit a home run in the previous WBC, his home run is expected in this tournament. If he hits it, it will give the team a momentum.
