Right-handed pitcher who contributed to a Japan Championship with his fastballs. He is a closer whose strengths are over-150 km/h fastballs and forkballs, but halfway into the last season began pitching as a starter and achieved a result. He is a candidate for a pitcher who replaces a starter.

He made a debut as SAMURAI JAPAN in Premier 12 in November, 2015. He pitched for 4 games as reliever, but the result was unsatisfying with 5 hits, 3 runs, a 6.75 ERA and 1 home run in a game against Puerto Rico. Like he wasn't able to recover frome the shock, he kept failing to close a game in the last season's penant race, but when he started pitching as a starter in the middle of the season of August, he got 7 wins (10 in total) for just two months. He got back his strength and increased overall abilities as a pitcher as well, and pitched as a second pitcher in Game 2 of warm-up games against Mexico last November with 2 hits and 1 run over 3 innings. Even though it was not scoreless, he proved an aptitude for a pitcher who replaces a starter.

He sticks to being a reliever and is slated to pitch as closer again in the new season. In WBC, he is very likely to be a reliever or a second pitcher, but depending on a situation, there is a possibility that he will take the mound as closer. He is expected to use his experiences of winning a Japan Championship to win back the world championship.
